The National Health Commission stated that after consultations between the two parties, the WHO International Expert Group on the Traceability of the New Coronavirus will visit China on January 14 to conduct joint scientific research and cooperation with Chinese scientists on the traceability of the new coronavirus.
In response to this news, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian stated at a regular press conference on January 11:China supports scientists from various countries in carrying out global scientific research on the source and transmission of the virus, participated in the drafting of the WHO resolutions related to new coronary pneumonia, and supported the cooperation of member countries on the source of the virus under the leadership of the WHO. The National Health Commission has released news about the WHO international expert group coming to China. After consultations between the two parties, the Chinese government agreed that the WHO international expert team would come to China on January 14 to communicate with Chinese scientists and medical experts on scientific cooperation on the traceability of the new coronavirus.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, China has maintained close communication and cooperation with the WHO on global virus traceability in an open, transparent and responsible manner. In February and July last year, China invited WHO experts to China twice when the domestic epidemic prevention and control tasks were very heavy. Chinese experts also frequently interacted with WHO and international experts through video exchanges and seminars, and introduced the results of Chinese traceability in a scientific manner. The WHO and international experts also briefed China on the progress of global traceability research they have mastered. The two parties worked together to formulate the Chinese part of the global scientific cooperation plan for the traceability of the new coronavirus.
